The Yellowstone of Europe
Făgăraș Mountains, Romania
The Făgăraș Mountains in the Southern Carpathians holds some of the world’s last virgin forests which have remained untouched for thousands of years. It is also an area that suffered from widespread clear cutting that began after the fall of communism in 1989. Whole mountainsides were targeted ruining what was once a thriving ecosystem. This is a rewilding project with one of our partners, Mossy Earth.
Pollinators and Predators
Kyrgyzstan
We’re headed deep into the heart of the Tien Shan mountains, into the territory of one of the world’s most elusive and majestic creatures: the Snow Leopard. The Snow Leopard isn't just a predator—it's a keystone species, meaning it plays a critical role in maintaining the health and stability of its entire ecosystem, ensuring that plants, animals, and people can thrive. But this isn’t just a journey into the wild; it’s a story of survival—of both the land and the people who call it home.
Permaculture – The Future of Farming?
Northern Cyprus
We spent just over two months on Sinde Permaculture Farm in Northern Cyprus. They use a fascinating system called permaculture, which starts with observing and understanding the patterns and intricacies of nature and then applying those learnings to our own environments. This approach extends beyond just our gardens and farms, its also about our homes, our communities and our lifestyles. The way our food is produced plays a large role in the conservation of nature. Perhaps it’s time to rethink how we grow food, to shift from a system that works against nature to one that works with nature.
The Forest of Immortal Stories
Făgăraș Mountains, Romania
The “Forest of Immortal Stories” campaign is open to all those who want to support the preservation of natural values and aims to promote the vast areas of native grassland on which many ancient trees grow. It’s carried out with the support of Foundation Conservation Carpathia and was born from the desire to protect some of the oldest and most spectacular beech trees in Europe.
